Senior Java Developer - FIX Applications

Corporate Overview:
Ballista Securities, LLC is a registered broker/dealer that operates the Ballista Alternative Trading System, a new destination for equity option traders to execute block-sized volatility, complex multi-leg strategies and directional orders. Our goal is to provide the institutional sell-side community a fundamentally pure mechanism for the execution of exchange-traded derivatives and an automated alternative to the slow, inefficient manual processes of phone calls and instant messages.
Job Responsibilities:
• Contribute to the development and engineering of a Java-based trading platform.
o This role will require a special focus on FIX applications
• Participate completely in all aspects of the product life cycle - including requirement analysis, software design, development, documentation, testing, and performance tuning.
• Independently design and develop various subcomponents that must interact with the core system.
• Report directly to the CTO, and interact with senior management and customers.
Requirements:
• Previous experience developing FIX applications is a must
• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent field
• Great understanding of core Computer Science concepts, such as
o Data structures, Algorithms, Object-Oriented design, Concurrency
• Solid understanding of
o Distributed Systems, Operating Systems, Networking Fundamentals
• 3+ years experience with Java development (j2SE)
o Including technologies such as networking, RMI JNI, JDBC
• 5+ years experience with software development
• Intermediate level experience developing software on/for UNIX/Linux
Experience with the following is a great plus:
• Financial industry experience, specifically, equity options
• QuickFixJ Library
• FIX monitoring and testing tools
o E.g. VeriFIX, MagniFIX
• Maven 2 build process
• Java 2 Webstart
• SQL
• Hibernate object-relational persistence mapping
• JMS (Java Message Service)
• UNIX/Linux system programming
o E.g. IPC, sockets, pthreads
