Senior Trade Developer
Chicago, IL 60605
Allston Trading, LLC trades hundreds of different stocks, bonds, futures and options on over thirty exchanges world-wide. Our internally-developed software decides when and where place buy and sell orders, risking our own capital while competing with the top names on Wall Street.
While the monetary rewards of developing successful trading strategies can be considerable, we are looking for people who are motivated by problem solving, like working with others and sharing credit, and who will enjoy playing a big game against some of the best talent on earth.
We work in small teams of people with complementary skills and won't burn you out with 80 hour weeks, endless reports, or arbitrary deadlines. Since we have no customers there is nothing standing between you and the bottom line. Technologists and traders are the business.
We are looking for extraordinary individuals who can contribute their creativity and drive to our core mission: to buy low and sell high (or sell high and buy low). Since electronic markets are evolving rapidly, most of our positions do not require a background in finance or trading.
Senior Trade Developer
As a Senior Trade Developer you will be researching new strategies, developing the code to implement them, and deploying them into the markets. This requires considerable versatility in both technology skills and critical thinking; on any given day you might be working with experts in low latency networking, Ph.D. quantitative analysts, and traders with many years of market experience.
The right candidate must have most of the following:
* Research experience outside of the financial industry (cs, engineering, natural sciences, mathematics, etc)
* Expert level programming skill in at least one language and proficiency in at least a low level language (e.g. c, c++), a higher level object oriented language (e.g. java, c#) and a high level interpreted language (e.g. python, ruby, perl)
* Knowledge of a broad range of technologies. The specifics are less important than a demonstrated ability and desire to continually develop new skills
* Commitment to and experience with good programming practices (e.g. source control, testing, automation, etc.)
* Some demonstration of having worked on a substantial project based on curiosity above and beyond the possibility of financial reward or academic credit
* Ph.D. dropouts are especially encouraged to apply for having demonstrated both the intellectual ambition to start and the common sense to leave; however this is not a strict requirement
Base up to $200,000. Total compensation on the order of double or more of base for high performers.
